What do trial sessions consist of?

Whether it be for your child or yourself, guests are welcomed into the academy by our friendly staff and introduced to the professor or coach running the session. Next, you will be shown the training and changing areas, then provided with a clean uniform ready for the class.
Classes start with students lining up by rank with a brief introduction and overview from the class lead, followed by a group warm-up. Next techniques are demonstrated and practiced with an experienced partner allowing plenty of time to ask questions and develop familiarity with techniques. After this, there is a safe yet challenging sparring portion including positional rounds or full sparring dependent on the session you attend. Classes end with a group cool down and once again lining up by rank to a closing statement from the professor or coach.

Do I need to bring anything to my trial sessions?

As we have clean uniforms for guests to use, we suggest you just bring a drink for breaks in class for hydration.

What amenities does the premises have?

We have a large matted training area where classes are run including seating for spectators. A community room with comfortable seating, TV, and drinks available to allow members, parents, and families to relax and socialise before, during, and after classes. We have separate male and female changing rooms and toilets with showers in each. There is also a large free car park adjoining the academy allowing for ease of access even at peak times.

What safeguarding and safety protocols are in place?

All staff are DBS approved and first aid trained. We are also a member of the safeguarding code in martial arts which requires a stringent application and qualification process to ensure the highest standards of safety for all members of our community.

Do I need to have previous martial arts experience to start?

Absolutely not! Many of our members have no previous martial arts experience before beginning their Jiu-Jitsu journey with us. Children and adults from 3 to over 60 years old train in the academy with varying backgrounds and experience. Everyone has the opportunity to enjoy Jiu-Jitsu and progress at their own speed through a long and fulfilling journey to black belt and beyond.
